Hello,

Me and the business im working for is recieving all
sorts of pop-ups and other spam mail that is bogging down
the computer. Is there any way to stop these things
manually--- because im hearing things about spamguard and
other anti-pop-up programs that do not work. Any advise u
can give would be understood.

I use a product called AdsGone. It works very well for
me. It also blocks those annoying ad banners in web
pages. Plus, it has an option to disable those messenger
service pop ups most broadband users get these days.

Goto www.adsgone.com for more information.

If the title bar of the spam message is Windows Messenger Service

Open Help and Support and search for "firewall". This will tell you how to
enable XP's built in firewall. If you have a valid reason not to use a
firewall, click Start, Run and enter SERVICES.MSC Locate the Messenger
entry and double click it. Set it to Stopped and Disabled.

However, the reason they can get to the Messenger Service (not to be
confused with Windows Messenger) in the first place, is that your internet
connection is not secure.

Popups from web sites when you're using your browser? Or popups when your
start your computer?
