Is there anything I can do to stop pop-ups? In 15
minutes, I've gotten 2 general, 1 disgusting, can I not
lock them out of my system? Am I sitting out there,
being a new system, vunerable to any and all freaks?

try google search for Pop-Up Stopper. Works great and really eliminates
them. I use the FREE version.

I also use the program from panicware.com and it is very good. I would also
recommend that you install a firewall and configure it correctly.

go to google.com they have a pop-up program that will
put a bar under your address bar in your browser that
will stop pop-ups. It even shows you how many it has
stopped.

there is a way through your settings, go to control
panel, click on admin tools, click on services, scroll
down to messanger, double click on it, click disable, then
apply, then stop, this will stop all the pop up messages,
as this is built in the xp system

But it doesn't stop the CAUSE of the popups. The OP needs a FIREWALL. Read
some of the hundreds of posts about this.

You could also go to www.panicware.com and download their free pop-up
stopper program. I use this and it is very good at what it does.
