pop ups ???

I am running Windows Defender, AVG8.0, and Malware (mbam) I run all three 3
times a day. 8.0 in the am, Malware in the afternoon, and defender in the
evening.
And I still get pop up adware. There is a chink in the armor but I know not
where.

Any suggestions.

Way too excessive, your HDD won't last long

And I still get pop up adware. There is a chink in the armor but I know not
where.

I tend to wonder whether there's a rootkit involved.

Try McAfee's detector:

I've seen this find both legit and bad stuff, so you'll need to do some research on what's found. If something suspect is found, I recommend posting at a dedicated cleaning forum--aumha.org would be a good choice. Read their instructions about what tools you will need to download and run and post logs from before posting.
