Pop ups when IE is shut down

I have a cable modem Win ME. When IE is shut down, I
continue to get pop ups. When I alt-contl del and shut
donw rundll32, they stop. I was also told that another
way to resolve this was to go into sevices and turn off
Messenger (which i never use)but i don't think you can do
this in ME. Are there any other ideas out there??

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded.

If trying everything at that sie does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
