Hi, when you are on a website and you get a pop up, it doesn't generate a
| temporary internet file unless you click to open it correct? I am being
told
| that alot of the temp internet files on my PC are the result of pop ups. I
| don't see how that can be true. When you click to close the pop up does it
| generate a temp file?

TIF are created while pages are being downloaded, whether you click on
something in the page or not.

Most web pages these days create TIF, not only pop-ups.

thank you for you reply. Would that be the same for cookies listed in the
TIF files? Or do you have to open the pop up or enter the website to show the
cookie being accessed?

Same for cookies, subject to whatever policies you have selected in
Tools > Internet Options > Privacy.

Ted, thanks. That poses another question for me. I took a look at the
privacy settings and right now they are set at meduim. Changing the setting
higher, would that prevent sites from opening? To be forthcoming, I am
having a problem with and adult user viewing porn on our home PC. I am being
told they are just pop ups and he is not visiting those sites. There are
several porn site cookies in our TIF listings. I am trying to validate
whether these sites are being opened or not. The history has been deleted so
I cannot look there. Thanks for your help.
