pop-ups and e-mail spam

Does anyone have a tried and true program they can
recommend for blocking pop-ups and spam? I installed
Google's taskbar yesterday, which is supposed to block
pop-ups (I think?) but it is not doing very well so far.

Any recommedations would be appreciated.

I recommended the Google Toolbar from http://toolbar.google.com
yesterday. Is that what you installed? You have to tell it to block
pop-ups. This page has more information:

How about the free Pop-Up Stopper from http://www.panicware.com ?
