I'm using windows xp and everytime im online i get pop
ups called messenger service...is there any way to get rid
of thes messeges?...Thank You...Melvin...

Stopping Messenger Spam (Windows XP/2000)

These instructions worked for me.

For Windows XP, you need to turn off the Messenger
Service. Again, this is not Microsoft Instant Messenger.
To turn it off:

Click on "Start."
Click on "Control Panel."
Click on "Performance and Maintenance"
Click on "Administrative Tools"
Click on "Services."
Scroll down until you see "Messenger." Double click on
it.
The properties will display. Click on "Stop."
Next to "Startup type," choose either "Manual"
or "Disabled" from the dropdown list (it doesn't matter).
Click "OK
