Can anyone help, My brother in Law is experiencing some
pop ups which only seem to come up everytime he connects
to the net. He has full Norton anti virus and internet
security and also has the latest microsoft beta anti
spyware with a few others.

He also gets windows messages which actually does not come
from Windows but from other sources.

Anyone have any suggestions Please.

Hi

We need some more clues about this. (messages and web adresses)

He can send a suspected spyware report to MS about this, menu tools,
but
for a solution more is needed.

Or go directly to one of these HijackThis forums:

if your brother is using MSN Explorer 9 to connect to the
internet you will experience a pop-up, i forgot what the
message is but i think this is close enough to that
message that your seing: //mar@/

I have spoken to my brother and the pop ups he keeps
getting say adult friend finder and sex personals. he has
not been anyway near these types of sites, this happens
when he connects to the net.

any ideas.

Give your Brother-in-law this message:

Get HijackThis.exe from
http://tomcoyote.org/hjt/hjt199//HijackThis.exe

Save it to C:\hjt (new folder) then Open it and select
Scan and Save Log. Note where you saved the log then
send it to me as an attachment. Put Hijack in the subject
so I'll know it's not spam.

It can be tough to sort through the replies in a group like this one. In
case it is helpful, I recommend taking Ron Kinner up on his offer.

Not to belittle anyone elses contribution at all--I think that may be the
most expeditious route to getting the machine clean.
