Pop up windows in Excel 97 doesnt work after working in visual basic

Hi,
Is there anyone who has experienced the following:
1)I open the visual basic editor from Excel 97 and edit
some file.
2)Then I close the editor and return to Excel
3)Now I cant see dialog boxes on the screen. If I press
the "Open" button, then the box is not shown on the screen
and focus has been removed from Excel. And Excel doesnt
accept any key press expect the Esc-key. Then it is normal
again.
4)The only way to "cure" my Excel is to shut down and boot
the machine and it works again until the moment when you
open the VB editor...

Can you help pls?

You need to supply the operating system. This is consistent with a loss
of system resources, but without knowledge of the OS, it is just a
guess.
