Hi All you expert!

The pop up windows menu that give the choice to open my cd in different applications from my cdroom does not come up anymore!!!
I have tried all the usual stuff, settings...etc...not to avail!
But it still comes up when I stick my USB storage Jetflash key.
Some software must have disable and/or change some entries in Windows files and/or in the registry when a CD is inserted in the CDroom; I am not sure.
Autorun CD still open, but any other CD that does not have an autorun file just die in the CDroom and I have to open it manually through Windows explorer for example. I run XP Pro, Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 Laptop.
I am in Kenya right now, in the middle of the bush and no one even understand what I am talking about around here!!
Please help, I am going crazy!
Thanks a million to you guys for answering ASAP.
God bless,

Hi Kelly!
Thanks a million for your help; I have found so much tips and tricks on your site...........unbelievable!! You are a star!
Just a tip for all you guys out there regarding this "open with" windows menu:
If ytou run ACDSee 6.03, and device detector is enable in your tray, it will overide that windows pop up menu to appear; nothing wrong with the cdroom and autoplay.........like I believed in the first place.
I did figured that one out eventually...........sometime one must start with the basic instead looking too far for solutions.
Best regards to you all, and thanks again Kelly for your help!

Hi Kelly,

Was wondering if the solution would apply to the following problem?

Inserting a thumb drive or CD/DVD would automatically launch the "autoplay"
window with some options with gibberish text and no icons. How do I remove
them? I believe it was from a previous software which was installed and
since been uninstalled.

On another PC, same scenario with launching of the "autoplay" window but
with absolutely no options; ie. empty window.

Pls advise how I may rectify this. Thanks.

Hi Anando

Thks for the tip. I installed TweakUI. However, I was not able to
delete/edit the handlers "which have not been created by TweakIU". The
options were 'greyed out'. Any suggestions?

Hello Mike,

An easy way to remove Autoplay handlers would be through TweakUI. Under TweakUI you can naviagte to
My Computer>Autoplay>Handlers and then you can select either edit it or delete it. You can download
TweaUI from the following location:

Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP
