pop up was blocked

Hi,

I got this message in the status bar "a pop-up window was blocked" after
clicking on some links. I assume that there's some program background
process/program that prevent pop-up windows but I have trouble finding it in
the Task Manager. Please help! I think someone here said that WinXP by
itself didn't have this feature and there must be some other application I
installed that blocked the popups but I just got this new laptop from Dell
with WinXP prof pre-installed and the same thing happened.

Not as yet part of Windows itself, but may well be something Dell
installed. Possibilities are a Firewall (eg Zone Alarm Pro has this);
or the Google Toolbar (which you would see in Internet Explorer) or a
separate Popup stopper program like 'PopUp Stopper' (which puts a
littl;e icon - grey hand with raised finger - in the Taskbar tray)

Hi,
Unless you installed SP2 (still beta) then your Popup Blocker isn't
Windows XP.
what's the problem?blocking annoying pop up is a sign of healthy/safe
computing?why do u want them back?If you use google toolbar it will
block pop ups.

You need to fix the date entry in your clock setting. It may be July 19 on
Mars or some other planet but not on Earth.

I looked at the Dell notebook page. It seems that new notebooks, by default, come with a
90 day free trial of Norton Internet Security, which among there things blocks Pop Ups.
That's probably what's happening on the new laptop. After 90 days, you will be asked to
pay for Norton Internet Security, or you'll uninstall it. Look in Control Panel/Add and
Remove Programs, and you will see a listing for Norton Internet Security if it's on you
laptop.
