Pop-up Reminder

Hi everyone,
Am working with excel 2000 and have this file which lists all lease
agreements with validity dates.
Is it possible to have an automated popup or better still a macro to send an
email to a defined user to ensure timely follow-ups... say 30 days prior
expiry of the agreement. Currently all I do is highlight same in a different
colour but that is really not good enough..
So look foward to some smarter options.
