I am on a dialup connection.

After connecting to my ISP, when I open a browser window or outlook express,
I get a popup window asking if I want to connect to the internet (and which
connection do I want to use - from a list in the dialog box.)

When I navigate to another web site, the popup AGAIN appears - each new
site, the same query appears.

WHY do I get the dialog box and how can I get rid of it - since I already am
connected to the web when the box appears.

Windows version?

By any chance are you running IE7 Beta2?

Have you checked your settings at IE Tools > Internet Options > Connections

At Outlook Express Tools > Options > Accounts > [account name] > Properties

Running ie6 - oe6

Checked both options and they are not the problem (talked to my ISP and he
had me remove the network connection to them and reinstall it - no change.)

More ideas??

You post here using WinXP SP2. Is it the problem machine?

Who is your ISP? Dial-up, DSL, cable, wireless or satellite connection?

No, but the problem computer is same OS.
Who is your ISP? Dial-up, DSL, cable, wireless or satellite connection?

I'll give them a plug Sonic.net in Santa Rosa, CA (both computers are on
Sonic.)

They have dial up in most of CA, DSL in major CA cities.

---copied from their web site---
They are gradually covering Calif. with dial up and have DSL in several
large cities in CA. Started in a garage in Santa Rosa.
Sonic.net is a full-service Internet provider, dedicated to delivering fast,
reliable and inexpensive connectivity while providing award-winning
technical support. Based out of Santa Rosa, California, we were one of the
first ISPs to bring DSL access to the wine country 1994, and continue to
lead the way in making new access and hosting solutions available to the
public.
---end copy---

Their support is outstanding.

My computer is DSL but the problem one is dialup.

Thanks I'll check these on the friend's computer.

Some of them look like good possibilities.
