Pop-up Problem

Every time I open a website shortcut on my desktop, a pop-
up ad window opens as well. I've restricted the pop-up
url but a blank browser window still pops up showing the
restricted url as the address whenever I access a website
from a desktop shortcut. Can anyone tell me how to stop
this?

The linked MVPs article recommends AdShield. I installed AdShield and
it works great.

panicware.com offers a free-ware program that will solve
the problem and is wonderful. They sell a fuller feature
program but this free one suits all my needs. Been using
it for a long time...if you need the pop ups (for forms,
etc at some sites)...you simply hold down the ctrl key
while clicking at that site and it lets them appear. GREAT
program.
