pop-up issues

i've been having many pop-up programs occur, and each time
they are preceeded by a trojan. i manage to clear
everything up thru my virus scanner, as well as adaware
and spybot. after surfing the net however, the cycle
repeats and i have to do it all over.
the only thing i can take a guess at is spybot telling me
about "dso explot" issue. every scan identifies it, no
matter how many times i fix this. folks at spybot say this
is not a problem as long as i have all the service packs
and windows updated. they say it is a problem with spybot
and will be fixed in their next update.
however my concern is the following(and i'm not too comp.
smart so bear with me): spybot tells me that dso exploit
is a security hole in IE allowing websites to execute code
without asking me first. does this mean the problem exists
with IE or has that been fixed. why do i keep getting all
these pop-ups and various browsers installed as well as
other net-crap installed when i never download these
things? isnt this what ther are referin to by saying code
is executed without asking me?
i am getting very frustrated as i seem to be going in
circles, especially because i do not quite understand all
these things. any help would be greatly appreciated

The DSO exploit is and old issue,if you are current with windows update you
can ignore it.After the next scan just highlight the DSO report and select
"Exclude this item from future scans,(or wording to that effect)
For the pop-ups (trojans)This should help:
Install a good third party firewall,Shut off messenger service in admin
tools>services.
Install spywareblaster and change your internet settings to this.


To help stop unauthorized downloads via your activex controls change your
default settings.
These settings are good for XP. The wording should be close for other systems
as well.
Go to control panel and open "internet options.
Click on the security tab then custom level.
make sure these settings are as follows.

Download signed active x controls>set to prompt
Download unsigned active x controls>set to disable
Initialize and script active x controls not marked as safe>set to disable
Run active x controls and pluggins>set to enable
Script active x controls marked safe for scripting>set to enable
Java permissions>set to high
Launching programs and files in a IFRAME" > Prompt
Installation of Desktop items"> Prompt
Navigate sub-frames across different domains>prompt


Sometimes,when you remove malware it will stop your TCP/IP
stack from working (Internet connection).
Winsock or LSP-fix will correct the problem,Download first.
Note to anyone using NOD32 Anti-Virus software,Do Not delete the
"imon.dll" this fix reports,That is your e/mail scanning engine.
