Pop-up gremlins

I must be getting my pop-ups wet cause every time I go to
close one another or two pops up. It's getting to the
point now where I'll have 6-8 of them and I can't get them
to shut or even respond. The only fix so far is
ctrl+alt+delete and then picking the lowest IE on there
and shutting it down. Even though it shuts all my windows
for IE I also lose half my task bar icons.

Any help with this would be great.
