Pop Up Blockers

Hi Cynthia,

It is not clear as to what you want. Do you want to stop pop-ups or, do you
want to disable your pop-up blocker.

If you want to stop internet pop-ups, the free download from the following
site works well.

If you want to turn off a blocker you already have, it will vary from one to
the other but, they usually run in the system tray and r-clicking or double
clicking the icon will usually give you the option of turning it off. With
Popup Stopper, you can hold the Ctrl key while you click a link to allow the
link to open, there is probably a similar option with the others, not sure.

XP, the operating system, has no pop-up blockers (unless you count
disabling the Messenger service or using ICF to block Messenger spam).

Internet Explorer has no native java popup blocker until XP SP2 release.
Disabling the popup blocking or bypassing it will be available in the
status bar.

If you have a third-party blocker, you'll have to read the directions.

Also, am not sure whether you are getting internet pop-ups
or popup due to Windows Messenger.

If it is Windows Messenger, please follow the steps:

1. Click Start, Settings, and Control Panel.
2. Click Performance and Maintenance.
3. Click Administrative Tools.
4. Double-click Services.
5. Scroll down and select Messenger.
6. Right-click the highlighted line and choose
Properties.
7. Click the Stop button.
8. Select Disable or Manual in the Startup Type scroll
bar.
9. Click OK.

Alternatively, you can follow these steps to disable
Messenger Services from Windows:

1. Click Start and Run.
2. Type services.msc in the Open box and click OK
3. Scroll down to Messenger in the right pane.
4. Double-click Messenger and click the General tab.
5. Under Service Status, click the Stop button.
6. In the Startup Type drop-down box, select Disable.
7. Click Apply and OK.
8. Restart the computer.
