POP password not saved - Protected Storage System Provider registry key fix doesn't work

From what I have seen in the newsgroups, there are many experiencing this problem

All the KB articles (best one is KB275465) instructions seem to not be working for many

Is there an Outlook MVP or MS staffer that can provide a successful resolution
 
Hi kbok,

Since you didn't mention what operating system or version of Outlook but did
mention you tried the KB article, try one of the following.

1) Try a new Outlook profile. Please do not copy the old profile via the
mail applet. Create a new profile and verify that the problem exists in
this new profile.

2) Try creating a new userid on win2k/xp and logon with that new id and try
a new outlook profile.

these two steps will help identify how deep the problem really is.
(protected storage/outlook profile vs. user profile at the operating system
level.)

It would be helpful if you posted what version of Outlook you were using
and what operating system the computer runs.
