Can anyone help?
I have just made my first movie with Movie Maker 2. When
I transfer it to cd the quality is very poor. Have
checked the digital tape directly through the TV and it's
excellent. Have tried several of the download
alternatives offered in MM 2 but all are degraded. Would
love to keep useing MM 2 because it's so user friendly.

Thanks Alex

The best quality in MovieMaker is DV-AVI.... however if you want to make a
VCD (ie a CD that can be played in a standalone DVD player) the quality will
inevitable be poor.... worse than a VHS tape. A better quality will be SVCD
but your movie will be much shorter. Higher quality needs bigger files and
since a CD holds only 700mb of data, you'll be able to fit less on one.

Obviously a DVD holds 4.7gb of data and this is the way to go for good
quality movies that you can play on a standalone player....

You might want to take a look at www.dvdrhelp.com for helps and tips.

I go with Cari. If you had a whole 60 minute dv tape on the pc it would be
about 13gb. This means you could fit 3 minutes of it on a cd uncompressed.
In order to fit it on to the cd it has to be compressed heavily, which is
why you see it looking poorer. The quality of the encoder also makes a
difference, so if you use say tmpgenc to do it instead of nero you'll get a
better result. Finally, it'll also look better ona tv than on a pc.

Cari (and everyone)
Max space on CD-R is 700mb - Useable is 650Mb
Max Space on DVD-R is 4.7Gb - Useable 4.1Gb

In 2 Timothy 3:1-7, there is a list of the qualities that
Unregenerate man will have in the last days. Is your quality
found there? If So, don't despair - Christ came to save His
people.
