Poor quality WMV

I recently bought a new Sony camcorder and when I capture
video in MM2, the quality in both the preview pane and
final wmv is poor. I have tried both the default settings
and also selected high quality video in MM2 but to no
avail. I have Sony Imagemixer also on my machine (a
recent purchase laptop) and this gives similar results.
In despair I have tried on a friends machine and the
quality is perfect using MM2.
Could some setting in the Imagemaker software that is
been picked up by MM2 have caused my quality problems or
is it caused by some setting on my laptop. I have ruled
everthing else out as it works fine connecting my
camcorder to my friends machine.

If you are using USB instead of firewire that could be the problem.

There also may be specific settings in the capture software that have been
changed. More than likely it's NOT hardware related. Make sure you're
running the latest version and do a fresh install if possible and see if
that clears it up.
