Poor performance when an icon is copied to the desktop.

When I copy a network application icon from the start menu
or the task bar to the user's desktop, the application
takes three to four times longer to open. Any ideas on
what is causing this and how to resolve it?

Try creating the icon as a new icon rather than a copy.
