Poor Digital Picture Quality

If I use digital pictures within Movie Maker 2. The
picture quality deteriorates badly. At first I thought
this was just in compilation modes as per previous posts
to this site, but it is definitely in playback also.

Using Nikon E5700 camera, storing in JPEG format, fine
mode (2560 x 1920). These pictures display perfectly
prior to being dropped into the storyboard ie if you
display within mm2 from the collection, picture is
unchanged until it is viewed from within the storyboard.
It doesn't matter if there is 1 or more pictures used,
they all have the same result. I have also tried the MS
resize software, this still doesn't help.

Also have problems with video from Sony TRV25e but I
believe this is because I only have a normal USB
connection. Before I try to contact Sony for the answer,
does anyone know if the camcorder would be able to
transfer through a USB2 if I had one installed, or better
still a firewire connection?

Thanks in advance, I am itching to get some good results
from MM2 but need you help!!!

During editing you are looking at lower quality 320x240 images. When saving
a movie, it'll use the quality setting that you select, something like
640x480 would be at the upper end of usual DVD quality movies.

You can go higher with custom profiles, but you're then straining the
playback capabilities of the computer, and limiting distribution methods.
