Poor compression

I compressed a folder and all its subfolders that total 93GB. The saving
for these 66,707 files was only 3GB. Content was only PDF, CHM, djvu and
ptb files.

Why did they not compress more?

For one CHM and PDF are already compressed.

For one CHM and PDF are already compressed.
