Ian Boyd

i am logged onto the domain controller itself.

i'm looking under "Security Settings/Local Policies/Security Options" for
either of the group policy settings:

"Do not store LAN Manager hash value on next password change", or
"Network security: Do not store LAN Manager hash value on next password
change"

Yet neither appear. MS KB's, web articles, and newsgroups say it should be
there.

Screenshot; just cause i know you don't believe me - or have any clue how to
fix it.

Hi Ian

Referring to

299656 How to prevent Windows from storing a LAN manager hash of your
password
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=299656

It mentions that on Windows 2000, you need to edit the registry instead of
using policy.

i read (past tense) it as: i have to use the group policy editor OF Windows
XP or 2003.

It has been clarified to me.
