When I try to re-install Norton Antivirus the following
error appears: The system administrator has set policies
to prevent this installation. This is my computer at home,
I am the system administrator. I've been hijacked, how do
I reset and allow install of NAV?

Hi

Verify that the registry value DisableMSI under the key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer

is NOT set to 1 or 2 (if it doesn't exist, it will default to 0 for
WinXP or earlier)

If it is set to 1 or 2, change it to 0.

Machine Policies: DisableMSI

I do not have an installer folder in the registry with the
path you specified. Is this a problem? Would McAffee have
the same results?

Hi

I would think it is not a problem if it does not exist, but you
could of course create the key and set the value to 0 and see
if helps...
