Can you setup a group policy on a single machine for
roaming users.
we do not have active directory yet, still on NT4. we
have several machines (6) that are used be roaming users
and i want to lock the machines down. I was wondering if
you can create a group policy on a specific machine?

You will definetely not be able to apply any group policies without a Active
Directory. You could use NT4 system policies to lock down your NT4 desktop
though.

If the computer is a Windows 2000, 2003, or XP box, it will have a local
policy, which can lock down users and the computer.

You can also use Windows NT System Policies, which will give you quite a bit
of leverage on all comptuers in the domain. You can customize it fairly
well. If you will be in NT for a while, check out Full Armor's Web site,
they are great with NT System Policies. As well as 2K/2K3 GPOs.

We are in an NT 4 domain and use GP to lock down the computers that need to
be. The only problem is that you have to set it locally on each machine and
can't make changes "on the fly". We use Ghost images to solve the first
problem and just hope that we get it right the first time because of the
second problem.
