Is there a way to configure RIS to point to an SUS server to get updated
service packs automatically?

A RIS server as a SUS client? Or to configure SUS client on images prior to
deployment.

What is it you're trying to do?

Deploy a client with RIS and have it automatically download all updates
right away. Kind of like making it a SUS client but forcing it to install
all updates right away, rather than waiting for it. Reason being is that I
have a new laptop that I want to send to a sales rep in another state. It
would be nice to do the RIS installation of the basic OS and have it grab
the updates from our local update server with something in the .sif file.

Interesting idea. The only thing I could think of is maybe specify which OU
the computer account is created in.On that OU use a GPO to specify when it
hits the sus site and installs the updates. Once all updates have been
applied, move the computer to the OU of the sales person.....Other than that
I don't think there is a way to tell SUS to update the clients it sets up.
And there isn't a way you can apply patches/SP to a RIS server from a SUS
server...you have to slip-stream the images.(I could be wrong but I am
pretty sure on that one). Hope this helps.
