I have a list of 100 items in Column 1 with many duplicates.
In column 2 I wish to show how many times each item appears in the column.
So each duplicate will have this same number beside it in column 2.
What function/facility do I research to find how to do this?

Many thanks
Brian Tozer

Thankyou very much for your reply both here and in the Newuser group.
My ISP had problems yesterday and lost all the NG postings so without your
reply here I would have missed your superb reply in Newusers.

On another issue, could you tell me the process by which you created the
tinyurl below.

Thanks again

Any one of these will give you a short-form URL from a long one.

http://tinyurl.com/

http://snipurl.com/

http://www.shorterlink.com/

I prefer snipurl because there is no copy/paste involved.

Misstated my reason I guess.

With snipurl you copy the URL from the address bar or wherever then open
snipurl and the address is inserted automagically.

Can't seem to get this with tinyurl.

You're right Gord, it does save a couple of clicks.<g>

BTW, I'm just wondering now, if the OP is really looking for instructions on
where to find the URL itself, for the Google copies of the posts?

Brian,

One way to get the URL:

Once you find the post you're looking for in Google,
Right click on "View This Article Only",
From the pop-up menu choose "Properties",
In the "Properties" window, "General" tab, you'll find the "Address URL",
Make sure you select the *entire* address,
Then simply right click and choose "Copy",
Then navigate to the web site of your choice and get your abbreviated URL.

I was looking at OP's query on the "how" of tinyurl.
