Hiya all,

I have 512meg of pc2700 memory in an Asus A7V8X. I want to increase this to
1 gig. This mobo will also take pc3200 (though only one stick at a time).
Would you buy the additional 512meg of pc2700 or would I notice a worthwhile
increase in performance if I went straight for the 1gig of pc3200 and used
the pc2700 in another PC of mine?

Use this machine mainly for FPS/multiplayer gaming.

All views appreciated. Cheers, Shawk.

If the machine is used mostly for gaming, 512MB of RAM should be plenty.
Faster RAM, PC3200, will benefit you only if the FSB is raised above 166MHz,
which is the upper rating for PC2700. If you do decide upon more RAM, PC3200
is within a few dollars of PC2700 and a better bet for the long term.
