POS has a history in C++ because it started on embedded systems but why
don't we see any POS developed in C# for example using the framework?

Consider the processing power of the terminals...

Andrew

And? Any desktop has the same types of CPUs being used on contemporary POS
machines and most of the POS products now run on Vista using MS-SQL Express
as the database.

Can you give an example? Some shops may have something like an AS/400 behind
thin clients (e.g. http://eregister400.com/).
as the database.

My games PC has an x86 processor, but I reckon it has an order of magnitude
more processing power than than the average POS terminal. "Same types of
CPU" doesn't cut it.

X-No-Archive: Yes

My apologies to the newsgroup for my frivolity: I should perhaps have
directed the OP to microsoft.public.pos

Sorry folks,

Andrew

Why do I always attract trolls and goons who do not know what they are
talking about and talk through their @ss? Why me?

I am very interested what Billy will find out because I ask the same
question. I am software developer for a Hospitality Systems company that
doesn't use C# or any Microsoft product. As a way to keep up with
Microsoft technologies and sharpen my c# skills, I decided to build my
own POS for restaurants mainly relying on internet materials.
