Pocket PC Not Recognized

I am unable to get Vista to recognize my Pocket PC (UTStarcom 6700). When I
plug it in, it asks for a device driver (which I do not have). I tried going
into the list of drivers in Vista and picking Windows Mobile, but that did
not work. So now I am stuck with an unknown device in Device Manager -
PocketPC USB Sync. Any ideas?
Build 5384

I have a 6700 (audiovox for Sprint) and I noticed in device manager, there
was a listing for but the driver was not functioning. I uninstalled that
from device manager, and then searched for new hardware and it worked.

Sorry for the multiple posts. Microsoft's website for this newsgroup has some
issues.

I will be trying it on another PC tonight, which I imagine will work. I have
uninstalled it multiple times, as well as tried it on 4 different USB ports.

I have the same Pocket PC just a different carrier PPC-6700. Vista did not
ask for drivers when I plugged my in. Did XP ask for drivers? Have you needed
to install them before?

I have the same problem with a QTEK S100 with Windows Mobile 2003.

No drivers exist (never did). Just always required Microsoft ActiveSync.

The patch that came out today, still dosent resolve my problem.

I am running Windows Mobile 5, maybe it is an issue with older OS'.

How exactly do I get the patch? I did a Windows Update and there was
nothing and my Axim still will not connect.

When you open Windows Update you have to click check for updates.

OK, got it working. I didn't realize I had to connect with USB before it
would let me connect with Bluetooth.

Syncs nicely with Outlook 2007

with Vista, mine PDA also not found now

I've got a Samsung i730 with WM5. Worked great with ActiveSync for the last
year.

Though Mobile Device Center popped up, it won't connect. I hear the USB
connect sound when plugging in the PDA, but nothing else. Anyone got ideas on
this? (no drivers were requested)

I realize the problem now. When adding my Motorola headset or i730, Vista is
asking for a Bluetooth Peripheral Device driver. This is new in Vista. XP
needed no device drivers for bluetooth.

For 2 devices added, Device Manager is showing 5 Devices that need drivers.

Does anyone out here know why a Pocket PC would need a driver or where to
get it.
