Hello,
After installing some USB devices (printer, scanner, etc.)
and SP4, Win2K is no longuer able to load de standard
device drivers included in windows when a new hardware is
plugged on USB.
For example, I plug a standard USB key. Normally, on this
computer under Windows 2000 pro, this device is recognized
immediately, and works without manual action within 10
seconds. But now, a window indicating that a new hardware
is detected indicates "USB Mass Storage Device" and the
Wizzard for installing new hardware apears to ask for a
disk with the device driver.
I think Windows lost some parameter used to find the
standard device driver database, but I'm not sure. Is
someone can give me some assistance ?
Regards.
Antoine

In addition, it is now impossible to add a "standard" printer (driver
included in W2K) . I checked the Inf directory and the printer's
definition file, but all is correct. I think it's a registry problem,
but where ?
