I use png format pictures on my slides because of the
transparent background but PPT 2002 puts them on a black
or white background. It doesn't seem to recognise the
transparency. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi Mark,

Did you happen to run any 3rd party PowerPoint compress/optimizing programs?
Almost all will affect the alpha (transparent) channel of .png images (or
..tif images).

Also, if you use Photoshop to create your PNGs Colour Management can affect
the alpha.
I'd advise either Web Graphics Default or just switch the thing off.

Hi Mark,

sometimes you'll need an additional mouse click and use the "magic wand" to
re-apply the transparency.

Kind regards,
Ute

Yes, that works well until there's some black in the image as well. For
example if you've used an alpha channel to create a soft drop shadow. Then
the shadow disappears! Why, oh why do they change these things..?
