Dave,

I think you mis-read that link. The IBM Connector service is an IBM's
equivalent to windows update, not a description of PMEMNT.SYS...

The old "Update Connector service" was PMEMNT.SYS (from the days or Windows
NT) The link I posted is correct.

pmemnt.sys is a Windows NT sys file

I found the following information at: http://www.file.net/process/pmemnt.sys.html

pmemnt.sys file information

The process Physical Memory Driver belongs to the software Microsoft(R) Windows NT(TM) Operating System by Microsoft Corporation (www.microsoft.com).

Description: pmemnt.sys is located in the folder C:\Windows\System32\drivers or sometimes in the folder C:\Windows\System32. Known file sizes on Windows XP are 7012 bytes (60% of all occurrence), 7168 bytes.
The driver can be started or stopped from Services in the Control Panel or by other programs. The program is not visible. The service has no detailed description. pmemnt.sys is not a Windows core file. pmemnt.sys seems to be a compressed file. Therefore the technical security rating is 30% dangerous.

Important: Some malware camouflage themselves as pmemnt.sys, particularly if they are located in c:\windows or c:\windows\system32 folder. Thus check the pmemnt.sys process on your pc whether it is pest.
