I have one home network and want to have domain but first let me tell u about my network config, that is on server there is Win2k server and all clients have win2k pro and currently it is in workstation mode but i want to have local domain with internet connectivity but unfortunately when i installed & configured DNS then all the clients stops browsing although they r added in the domain? what should i do right now?

You need to configure all internal clients and servers to use your internal
DNS server for name resolution. On the DNS server itself, configure a
forwarder address to your ISP. Don't use the ISP address directly in any
client configuration.

Check your DNS server's Forward Lookup Zones for a "." zone.
If it is there delete it, then it should start eresolving internet names.
You can optionally add a forwarder to your ISP in your DNS server, it is not
required.
What is required is that all domain members use your local DNS server only.

Check the DNS forward lookup zone for a zone called "." root. If it's there, delete this zone. Clients will then be able to browse
the Internet.

Mike,

What if a router installed and put all other computers in
a separate workgroup or domain. Use this server as pure
DNS purpose. Then, you don't need to delete the forward
lookup zone of ".". I thought this "." zone were there by
default. It must have some usage in the future. I saw it
has com, net & etc. folder in there.

If it has a "." forward lookup zone which is a root the machine will not
resolve any name it does not have the zone for unless the root zone has all
the delegations for all TLDs. From your decription it does not have any TLDs
delegated.
It should be deleted, that will enable the Root Hints, or you can download a
delegated root zone and put it in the DNS folder or set up a secondary root
zone from one of the internet roots. My personal preference is the ORSC Root
but most people get the ICANN root which is what the root hints use.
