The oem driver is not letting Vista to shut down it reboots the computer
instead.
After disabling the Automatically restart option on the Startup and Recovery
window things got worst and i got a blue screen with a stop error.

I know the error could be on the PLX Technology driver. But I am also aware
that XP had a similar problem that it wasn't shutting down correctly and it
wasnt a vendors driver responsability.

Paco,

OK, let's start with what we know. If you know that the OEM driver isn't
letting Vista shut down, why not address that point first? Determine whether
there is a newer Vista driver available and, if there is, download and
install it. If that act resolves the problem, end of story. If not, post
back, and we'll go from there.

"things got worst and i got a blue screen"
No, it did not get worse.
You disabled the automatic restart so now you see the error screen
instead of booting right past.
Actually you probably improved since you can now see the specific
error.

Is the driver designed for Windows Vista?
Is it the latest Windows Vista driver?
Have you contacted the hardware manufacturer to see what they say
about their hardware and Windows Vista compatibility?

If there is a problem with the driver, the hardware manufacturer may
be able to give you more information.

thanks for your answer.

I downloaded the last SDK kit for the PCI9030 driver and I got the same
behavior.
I have contacted PLX tech support and I am waiting for a response.

What is different between the shut down process for XP and Vista? with
regards of the device driver? Because the PCI9030 drivers I had tried in XP
works fine.
What is the Message/call that Vista sends to the device drivers when is
shutting down? is it DLL_PROCESS_DETACH?

Thanks I'll keep you posted of new information

You are right is not worse for us as developers but it makes our product look
bad for our customers.
I have contacted the manufacturer. I'll keep you posted.
