The scanner is before the time of Windows XP.
If you can find a Windows 2000 driver, try that.
There may be a Windows 2000 driver here. German site.

the driver just support OS 95 / 98 / NT / ME only
Current we have not any schedule to develope the new driver which can
support Win XP.

Looks like Plustek Inc said it pretty clear in their email. The scanner isJohn Smith said:-----------------------------

might work. Get as far as scantest showing scanner is recognised etc but
can't scan anything.
