First of all ....
MERRY CHRISTMAS
I have a problem that I sure could us some help on.
My wife gave me an early xmas. It is a digital camera,
and I have been wrecking my brain in hopes that I can get
it installed.
The software included a CD-ROM ....which does not
work !!!!
I called our local gateway Store and they said the driver
program was not really needed and that with XP
would "automatically" detect as it becomes a 'play & play
that should install it, but it does recognize it as such.
I took the camera shop, and with their store display with
XP DID work, although it eats batteries in a very short
time.
Can anyone help with this ... apparently my "plug & Play"
is not working, and I wonder if there's a patch for this,
I have searched through all of the knowledge basics, and
have tried Kelly's Korner
Thanks all ...
Amber

Did you visit the support website of the manufacturer of your
digital camera and look for Windows XP compatible drivers
or software?

Thanks for the response. I did go to Gateway's
help/support knowledge page, and when I called the
Gateway and the camera choice response was that the
camera technician referred me back to the technical phone
number, and I called and spoke with them.
when I called the main technical option and spoke with
them re: XP says the XP software and they insist plug and
play should detect the camera, and that I may hove to
saved my folders / files, and then format the hard drive
and reinstall XP again. This seems strange, and I don't
think reinstall of XP would solve anything.

Try this:

Open XP's "Help and Support" and type: CAMERA , and hit enter.
Click on the task titled: "Install a scanner or digital camera".

Check your BIOS to make sure P&P is activated.

Hi Amber, most likely tour plug and play is working fine
but to see if its enabled go to Admin tools>services plug
and play will be listed here
NOTE: Do not confuse this with(UPNP) "Universal plug and
play" they are not the same thing.

When I first got my camera I had a hard time as you are
Turned out to be me.Once I connected the usb to the pc I
had to turn the proper setting on the camera to power the
usb line once I did this it worked fine.
