I have been trying to install a digital camera that I got for xmas. There is something wrong with my plug and play capability. I had an older driver for an older, cheaper camera, but this is causing prolbems with trying to detect the new camera. When I try to uninstall (remove) the older drive, which is previnting the pc from identifying the new camera and activating, I get a window named:

"Wise Uninstall
Could not open INSTALL.LOG file"

I have notice this messaging appearing with other removals, etc.
The techs thinks it is a problem with the XP Operation Systems, and that I may have to format the hard drive, and reinstall W XP
Is there ANY WAY to "repair" this problem using the XP CD-ROM ???
The camera checks out fine at the computer store, so the problems are here in my PC
Can someone help me out with this??
I appreciate any help anyone can offer.
Thanks
Bob

Bob, go to Start>Run type: regedit Navigate to
Hkey_Local_Machine\System\Current Control Set\Enum. Look for
older Device in there and delete. Also, look in C:\Windows\System32
Folder for the old driver. You can check sysedit
Start>Run type: sysedit Look in the Auto.exec and Config.sys file
for any entry there and delete.
