plug and play insists on wrongly recognising my digital
tv card...

how can i delete the information relating to the wrong
hardware and force it to look on the installation cd?

thanks

Remove the card using the device manager and reboot. That
should give PnP a chance to properly identify the card. Be
sure you have downloaded the current and correct drivers for
it to load.
