I just updated Windows 98 to Windows 2000 on my laptop.
During install, I was informed that there the following
plug and play devices required updates:

BDA IPSink
BDA MPE Filter
BDA Ship De-Framer
NABTS/FEC VBI Codec
World Standard Teletext Codec

What are these, where do I find the updates, and how do I
install them? PLEASSEEE any help here would be greatly
appreciated.

Eagerly awaiting your expertise,
teddy c

In general, when you upgrade from Win9x to one of the NT-
based OSes, you need to go to the motherboard
manufacturer's website to see if there are motherboard
chipset drivers you need, then you must update DirectX
(version 9b is current), then after updating DirectX, you
should install the latest video and sound drivers. If you
install drivers that were written for DX9, and all you had
were DX8.1, you could have problems. (Reinstalling video
drivers in this case won't fix things. You'd need to
uninstall, reboot, then install the video drivers fresh.)

Many driver and application installations need to install
OS-dependant components. So you may need to reinstall many
of your applications. But the motherboard chipset and
DirectX updates should happen after upgrading and before
all the other updates.
