Jim

I have a fixed start date and end date for the x axis
range - 9/18/2000 - 6/28/2003, and i have 10 dates that i
want to plot between these dates. I want the x axis to
display only the fixed start and end dates.

The dates to plot are;
1/4/2001
2/1/2001
3/9/2001
3/26/2001
4/26/2001
7/11/2001
7/11/2001
7/30/2001
8/9/2001
3/7/2003

I have the dates plotted but i cannot get the end date of
6/28/2003 to appear. I don't want to add 9/18/2000 and
6/28/2003 to the data series because it will look like a
data point.

Could someone help please?

Thanks,

Jim

First let's make sure your data is set up for the best charting results.
The dates go into the first column of your data range (doesn't have to
be column A) and the data in the column next to that. Put a label for
your data in the cell above the first data value in the second column
(this becomes the series name in the legend), and leave the cell above
the dates values blank.

Select both columns of data, including the top row with its label for
the data and empty cell, and make your chart. I assume it's a line
chart. Excel should recognize your dates as dates, and give you a time
scale category axis. If not, right click the chart, select Chart
Options, click on the Axes tab, and select Time Scale for category axis
type.

Now double click the X axis. Set the min to 9/18/2000 and the max to
6/28/2003. Use days as the Base Unit, and 1003 Days as your Major Unit.
