I have a worksheet in Excel that I enter tax rates into,
but they are case sensitive to the county. I am
wondering if there is a way to enter in the City and have
the County and Tax rate come up.

You could use VLOOKUP if you have a listing, in Excel, containing City,
County, and Tax rate (or one with City/County and another with County/Tax
rate). Take a look in Excel help for VLOOKUP and post back with any specific
problems you have. Include as much information as possible about the
structure of your workbook so we can help you.

As an aside, please use something more descriptive in your subject line
indicating the actual nature of your problem. Many will not read, or answer,
posts with non-descriptive subjects (excepting me, because I'm such a nice
guy).

Hi Courtney,

This sounds like an ideal case for using a data validation
list for the city names included in a lookup table of
cities, counties, and their rates. Then the VLookup
function in two cells referencing the user picked city and
the lookup table.

Check the Excel help system for Data Validation with
attention to the List option and for the VLookup worksheet
function.

NOTE: You didn't mention your Excel version - Data
Validation seems to have first been available with Excel
97 - I can't find it in Excel 5.0 or 7.0.

Best Regards,
Walt
