When I click on the mail icon on the toolbar for my MSN Browser AND my
Internet Explorer browser it takes me right to my default email client, MSN.
However.............. when I click on an email link on a web page, whether it
be in IE or MSN Browser I can get "default mail client is not properly
installed" error along with 62 or so blank webpages stacked up. I have
tried AdAware, Spybot, Microsoft Defender and they have found NO malware,
spyware etc. I cannot understand why this is happening. I have made sure
that all the internet options are set to MSN for email. Please help!!

I will try the mail to browser and see if that helps. :) I tried the other
one, but the registry won't let me add in a string. It gives me an "write to
registry" error

It sounds like (based on your earlier post) that you found this information;

How about this? http://windowsxp.mvps.org/mailtobrowser.htm

Hope this helps,

Fix the permissions for the Mailto key.

Administrators and SYSTEM should have Full Control
Users must have read access.

Glad that helped, Suzer.
No idea what caused this in the first place.

Hi,

I had the same original problem as Suzer and tried Ramesh's fix, tryin to
set the user permissions to make the "MailTo" change. Now when Windows XP
Home Edition tries to open, it processes to the blue sreen that normally
allows you to choose which user is going on from there, but thi screen simply
has the "Microsoft Windows XP Logo" and will allow me to go no further. Is
my goose cooked? I'm afraid now that I will have to reinstall XP and lose
the contents of my hard drive.

I have the same problem as Suzer, but this only happens with one system on my
network and only with a limited user...not the administrator. I've tried
Ramesh's ideas w/o success. Any other ideas?
