I've tried to install Vista from booting from the DVD acquired from MS and
get the loading windows files and then it goes to a black screen with no
activity for at least 15 minutes.
I try to install by running the DVD under Windows 2000 and I get windows
update, copies files, expands files, then reboots and black screen. If I
restart selecting safe mode I get loading files up to disk.sys and then
Please wait for at least 15 minutes. When I go back to Win2000 there appears
to be no files on D:. Vista never gets to format the space. I also tried
pre-formating NTFS but no difference.
I'm doing clean installs to a 30GB partition D: on the following hardware:
ECS RC410L/800M motherboard w Pentium D #805
Nec ND-3550A DVD
1GB Kingston RAM
Integrated ATI x/200 video w/64MB shared memory
Maxstor 40GB IDE hard drive
Any advice on other things to try.
