To which words/phrases <g> do you object?

I think it's these: ******* ****, ****, **** and ***** :)

I think that having to drop to that level indicates a lack of control
over emotions, a lack of vocabulary, or maybe a form of Tourette's ?

The real difficulty for me is that my children often wander up behind me
and read what is on the screen...

You need a 'boss key' app of some kind :-)

O.K... but it isn't always the vocabularily challenged that use such words.
Sometimes, we prefer to be concise, pithy and informative (in an unambiguous
way).
In a typical situation, we may prefer to articulate our sentiments in such a
manner and rather than referring to an alleged motorist that can't drive for
toffee as a fornicating self abuser, we might go for the more colourful
****ing wanker. It has a somewhat cathartic effect and calms the troubled
brow, albeit temporarily.
Unfortunately, it has been shown to have absolutely zero effect on the
driving skills of the said wanker.
YMMV.

Remember, this is an unmoderated usenet newsgroup. It's not really
wise to view these places with kids around. Even if this is just a
group about freeware, it doesn't mean it's a safe place for kids.

I use to ask people to ease up on the language, but since this is an
unmoderated group, they can do almost what they want without regards to
anyone else here. :-(

Just out of interest, why

"stop with the swearing"?

ISTM you have a word count 100% too high.

I can see your point, but sometimes there is just nothing like cussing to
make one feel better. As long as one doesn't overdo it ... well, many
_will_ overdo it. Still, "swear words" are just collections of phonemes
and are inherently no more offensive than any other word. (Especially so
when the swears mean the exact same thing as a normal word.) Okay, ceasing
digression. ^_^;

Can't Thunderbird do filtering of this type? Or do you not want to miss
out on what could be a good thread just because someone says something
disagreeable, which would make sense.
