When I start my PC I am presented with question.

"Please select operating system" and given two choices "Microsoft Windows XP
Home edition" and "Microsoft Windows XP setup".

My issue is that the "Microsoft Windows XP setup" is the default selection.
How do I change it so that "Microsoft Windows XP Home edition" is the
default selection, thereby allowing me start the computer without having to
wait and make a selection.

Thanks, Bob

Right click My Computer - Properties - Advanced tab - Startup and Recovery
(Settings) button.

This is indicates a previously un finished setup attempt (Most likely an
attempt at a paralell install.) Do you know if this occured?

Hi Bob,

Start/run msconfig, go to the boot.ini tab. Select the one you want and
click "set as default". If the current default entry is invalid (errors on
boot when you select it), then click "check all boot paths" and it should
offer to remove it. Otherwise, you can remove it manually by opening
notepad, then clicking file/open, set it to look in C:\ and type in boot.ini
in the file name field before clicking "ok". Just remove the unwanted line
from the [operating systems] section and close saving changes.
