Hi All,

This is getting very desperate for me. My problem is i am unable to access
websites using my IE7 web browser.

Things i have tried so far, run malware and deleted the results, run
CCCleaner and deleted the results, run Anti Virus - there does not seem to be
a virus on the machine although it displayed a comment on the system toolbar
that there was a w32.zaposhopping virus on machine.

I am able to ping my router and go beyond that by pinging an DNS server
4.2.2.2 with successfully results so i know that there is nothing wrong
witheither. I have reset IE7 explorer, i have deleted all tmp files, cookies
etc.

I am able to access Google BUT it seems no other sites - I am at my wits end
as to what to do next. I am very experienced with computer and work in the
industury but not come across anything like this before.

PLEASE could someone help or point me in the right direction.

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

That's what most viruses do, destroy your operation system. Back up
your important files, then reformat your hard drive and reinstall your
Windows Vista operating system.

Or go to www.ubuntu.com, download and install Ubuntu for free and not
worry about having these headaches anymore.

Probably a hijacker, expecially if you can access Google. Try accessing
http://www.mozilla.com if not do a Google search for mozilla and see if you
can link to it. If you installed IE7 recently, uninstall it. See if that
resolves the problem.

I recently worked on a club member's computer that had a similar sounding
problem. I found that the malware had changed the access settings to require
a specific DNS address rather than a dynamic setting. Go to Local Area
Connection Properties, and select the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
and click properties tab. Make sure the there is a check for Obtain IP
Address Automatically.

Good Luck.

By-the-way, I found this erroneous setting on a new HP computer on another
HP computer right out of the box on a House Call yesterday.

Sure, if you want to have an Operating System that is totally useless, try
Ubuntu.

What can be done with Ubuntu?

Email
Surf the web
Burn CDs.
Rip CDs.
Listen to music.
Watch vidoes/DVDs.
Scan and print.
Spreadsheets.
Presentations
Newsgroups.
HTML editing.
Games like Chess, Tetris, all kinds of solitaire, etc.
Make videos.
Download photos from a camera and organize them.
Translations.
Use a dictionary
Learn how to touch type.
Edit images.
Send and receive a fax.
Take screenshots.
Create .PDF files.
Create and use a data base.
Instant messaging with over 10 different programs in one including
Windows Live Messenger.
IRC.
Bluetooth.
Torrent.

and much more!

What you can't do with Ubuntu:

Run some MS or other niche programs like AutoCad. Most video games won't
work with Ubuntu either so if you're into games, dual boot with XP.

Or worry about:

WPA and WGA raising their ugly heads,
DRM,
Viruses,
Root kits,
Spyware,
and
Malware.

Do you by any chance have another Browser installed and what are the
results if any using another Browser. If you don't have one installed try
and download from another computer if you must and transfer the
installation file and install the alternate browser. If the alternate
browser works, then you know it is in fact an IE problem. Try opening IE
in the Safe or no Add-ons mode and see what the results are. At this point
ignore the other posts reference format and reinstall and Conficker etc. I
have cleaned a bunch of machines that had Conficker and none of them had
your symptoms. Let us know what your results are after these steps.
