Hello,
I'm not sure if this is the right area for this issue, but I can't find
an appropriate one.

I am using windows 2000 and I can't get my dvd rom to read a cdrom properly.
The atapi 12x cdrom appears correctly in the device manager with no conflicts
and the drive letter appears in explorer. However when I put any disk in the
drive it always say's please insert a disk into drive d:, if I do this from
Dos then I get "DEVICE NOT READY".

Is my dvd rom broken, I have tried re-installing the drive to no avail. Is
there any thing else that may be wrong.

Thanx in advance
Robert

Nope its shafted, there cheap enough these days , some techie might be able
to clean it and get it going but in my humble opinion
it's not worth the trouble
