please help!!!

ok, my windows Xp just won't start. I keep getting a Please insert a bootable Cd or disk or soemthing like that, as if there was no system in my drive

I think some of the files are corrupted or damaged, but if I reinstall windows it will delete all my documents! :

I've even tried to put it as a slave drive in another PC, but it won't let me go into the documents folder..

help please!!
 
If you have a retail XP cd , you can perform a repair install. This
procedure will leave files and settings intact. This option is available in
the install section of the retail XP disk. Jym

That's a reminder that you should back up your files more often. Try booting and enter in Safe Mode. That ought to let you access your files and back them up. Hopefully
